recession bundle

game bundles have been in vogue for a while now – a collection of games, sold together, and each individual buyer chooses her own price. often there are incentives for paying more: you’ll get bonus games if you beat the average price, for example. profits are split between all the creators and, usually, a charity.

well, i was approached about featuring mighty jill off in such a bundle. lately i’m pretty open to ideas that make me money – we’re just hanging on while we wait for some projects to pan out. here it is: the RECESSION BUNDLE. the idea behind this one is that all but two of the games are free – people who are unable or unwilling to pay still get to play games. mighty jill off will always be available for free.

this is possibly the first attempt at selling a pack of free games for money – i haven’t played the two pay games, so i can’t speak to their quality – maybe not a super-profitable idea. but the hope is that this is an opportunity for people who want to to reward a handful of freeware game creators for their work. let me tell you about some of the other (totally free) games in the bundle: there’s beau blyth’s gorgeous ACTION FIST!, the documentary game THE CAT AND THE COUP, and the sublime VIDIOT GAME. the charity cut goes to building communities for kids in croatia.

click here to purchase the recession bundle!

also in the GIVING ME MONEY department, posters are now ten dollars cheaper – that’s fifteen usd if you’re in the US, twenty if you’re outside the US – and they come with free stickers!

when the recession bundle reaches its first milestone, usd1000, i’ll reveal a secret code for mighty jill off that allows you to start the game at the second tower (normally accessible by completing the first tower in under twelve minutes).

UPDATE: the bundle hit a thousand bucks! here’s the code: start the game. while jill is licking the queen’s boots, type “queen”. you’ll hear a melody. then press space to start the second tower.

I have the bundle! I have your game! Sadly it won’t run for me on Win7: ‘Unexpected error occurred when running the game’.

I tried the usual run as admin and/or run in compatibity mode, any ideas?
