being the author of a book about digital game-making for non-coders and a hopeful ambassador for game creation, i figured i should have some link on the front of my site where someone with no game-making experience can click and learn how to make her first videogame. naturally, i picked the simplest, most non-coder-friendly, and my favorite game-making tool: twine.

This is great! One thing missing: a good way for people who don’t already have websites/dropbox/etc. to put it online and share it.
Hmm. Twine is open source, right? I could probably hack in something that automagically uploaded the generated html files and spat out a link? I mean, those are small and I have WAY more space than I am actually using. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
woah, thanks! now i just need to learn how to write smut and i’m set
Yay!
One TIP for newbies like myself — you might try to make a link from one page to another by drawing an arrow between them, but that’s not how you do it. You have to type it in as a link in the text.

which twine games would people reccomend? i’m tempted to give it a go but haven’t played any i don’t think, would like to give it some games a go to get a sense of what it can work.
there’s a brief list of recommended games at the bottom of the tutorial, and then i host a larger list here! it’s hard to name pick some to recommend over others, because they’re all neat and they’re generally all pretty short. escape pod and the sky in the room are pretty cool.
I was going to make a tutorial like this, but yours is perfect. Thank you.
Twine is great… Unfortunately it’s abandonware (at least for the time being), so it looks like there won’t be any more bells & whistles (or bug fixes) being added to it.
